What about young patients?

Children who are patients at Hamilton Hospital should have a parent or guardian with them at all times. Meals will be provided for the parent or guardian.

What is your smoking policy?

Smoking is not allowed in patient rooms or anywhere in the hospital. We are a Smoke Free Campus, so please observe the signs.

Do you have public telephones?

Telephones are provided in each patient room, except in the special care unit. Patients may place calls at any time and may receive calls in their rooms from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Each room’s phone number is displayed on its respective telephone.

Because of the potential risk to patient equipment, Hamilton Hospital restricts the use of cell phones and other wireless communication devices by patients and visitors to the waiting room areas and outside the building. A pay phone is located in the corridor.

Where are the waiting areas?

The hospital waiting room is located near the main entrance. Emergency waiting is located by the Emergency Department. Coffee, Tea, or Water can be purchased in the Hospital Dining Room.

Do you have a Chapel?

Yes! The chapel is located near the main waiting room and is always open. Visitors of all faiths are welcome to use the chapel for prayer and quiet reflection.

What are the visiting hours and regulations?

Visitors can be good medicine for patients; however, patient care is our primary concern. Visiting hours and regulations are available at the nurses station. If you need additional information, please consult with the charge nurse at the nurses station.

Visitors must dress appropriately and must wear shirts and shoes. No more than two visitors are allowed at the bedside at one time. Visitors in semi-private rooms should be considerate of both patients. People with colds, sore throats or contagious diseases should not visit patients. Visits should be kept short. Visitors should maintain a quiet environment and avoid unnecessary noise. Visitors may be asked to leave the room during tests or treatments or when the doctor or nurse needs to see the patient.

Do I need to bring anything with me when I come to a Hamilton Hospital?

In addition to anything your physician may ask you to bring in, please bring your insurance card and any other documents that will be useful in the registration and billing process. For example, you should bring in any referral or authorization form that your primary care physician has given you indicating the need for the services you will receive. If this is your first visit to a Hamilton Hospital, we ask that, in addition to your insurance card, you bring in a photo ID such as a driver’s license, Medical Power of Attorney or Living Will. How much is my deductible and coinsurance?

Your deductible and coinsurance amounts are determined by the insurance plan in which you are enrolled. This information should be included in your insurance benefits handbook. If you cannot find this information or have other questions, contact your insurance provider.

Will I be asked to make any payment when I come to a Hamilton Hospital?

Depending on the type of insurance you have, you may be asked to pay your coinsurance, co-pay, and/or deductible.
