Hamilton Hospital captured First Place honors in Rural Hospital Day Photo Contest

Olney Hamilton Hospital, Olney, Texas, nestled in Northern Young County, proudly stands as the oldest operating rural hospital in Texas and a five-time nationally recognized healthcare facility. As we approach National Rural Health Day, we’re taking a moment to reflect on our journey — and share a glimpse of what’s ahead.

Our hospital first opened its doors in 1908, and in 1926 relocated to the current location on Hamilton Street.  Over the decades, we’ve expanded through new wings and breezeways to better serve our community. Last year, our long-awaited dream became a reality: the beginning of a brand-new hospital for Olney and the surrounding region.

It’s an exciting time for our staff, patients, and neighbors as we continue to honor our history while building a bright future for rural healthcare in Texas.
